Who we are
In these terms, 'we', 'us' and 'our' mean the company that operates BrndTst, and 'you' means anyone who uses the website.
BrndTst is a consulting firm for businesses. We help companies set safe rules for investing their funds, write treasury and investment policies, carry out due diligence on firms and counterparties, manage cash flow and treasury, and prepare financial models for fundraising. We are paid only by our clients, at a fixed fee agreed in writing, and we take no commissions or referral fees.
What is this website, and what isn't it?
This website gives general information about our services and general guides on topics such as checking a firm or managing cash. It doesn't take account of your company's circumstances. It is not investment, tax or legal advice, not a recommendation of any product or firm, and not an offer to provide services.
- General information only: our pages explain ideas and ways of working, not what your company should do.
- Not an offer: nothing on the website is an offer to provide services, or an offer or invitation to buy or sell any investment, in any country.
- Not a substitute for advice: before acting on anything you read here, consider taking advice from a suitably qualified professional who knows your company's situation.
Our important information page explains the limits of our content and the risks of investing.
When does a client relationship start?
A client relationship starts only when your organisation and BrndTst have both signed an engagement letter. The letter sets out the work, the fixed fee and each side's responsibilities. Reading this website, emailing us or talking to us before then doesn't create a client relationship or any duty to advise you.
Before the letter is signed, our conversations are about whether and how we might work together. Please don't rely on them as advice.
Once the letter is signed, it governs our work. If it conflicts with these terms, the engagement letter applies.
Do we give investment, tax or legal advice?
No. BrndTst is not a regulated investment adviser. We don't give personal investment, tax or legal advice, and we don't sell or recommend specific financial products, investments or firms. We help companies build the frameworks, written policies and checks they use to make their own decisions, and we're paid only by our clients.
Because we take no commissions or referral fees, we have no reason to steer your company towards any product or firm. Where a decision needs regulated, tax or legal advice, your company should take it from a firm or professional authorised to give it.
Do we promise any results?
No. We don't promise any investment return, any outcome from fundraising, or any particular result from our work. Investing always carries risk: the value of an investment can fall as well as rise, and you may get back less than you put in. Examples and figures on the website are illustrations, not forecasts. See the risks of investing.
Accuracy and updates
We take care to keep our pages accurate and up to date, but rules, markets and practices change, and a page may not yet reflect a recent change. Each page shows the date it was last reviewed. Check anything important against the original source before you act on it. Our editorial policy explains how we write and check our pages.

Acceptable use
You may use the website to learn about BrndTst and our services, and to read our guides for your own work or your organisation's. You must not:
- use the website for anything unlawful, fraudulent or harmful;
- try to gain unauthorised access to the website, its servers or its data, or interfere with how it works;
- introduce viruses or other harmful code;
- copy or harvest content in bulk by automated means, other than normal indexing by search engines, without our written permission;
- pretend to be BrndTst, or suggest you are connected with us when you are not.
We may block access to the website if we reasonably believe these terms have been broken.
Intellectual property
We, or our licensors, own the copyright and other rights in the website and its content, including text, graphics, logos and design. You may view, print and share pages for your own use or within your organisation, as long as you don't change them and you credit BrndTst. Any other use, including republishing our content, needs our written permission.
Links to other websites
We link to very few other websites. Where we do, for example to a browser's help pages, the link is for your information. We don't control those websites and aren't responsible for their content, availability or privacy practices, and a link doesn't mean we endorse them.
Our liability to you
We provide the website free of charge and 'as is', for general information. As far as the law allows, we are not liable for any loss arising from using or relying on the website. That includes investment losses, loss of profit, and loss caused by the website being unavailable or by viruses we could not reasonably prevent.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits any liability that cannot be excluded or limited by law, such as liability for fraud. If you use the website as a consumer, nothing in these terms takes away rights the law gives you that cannot be waived.
Our responsibilities for work we do for a client, including any limit on our liability, are set out in the engagement letter, not in these terms.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms, for example when the law or our services change. Each version has a number and the date it took effect, shown under the heading. The version on this page applies each time you use the website.
Our legal documents page explains how we number versions and how to ask for an earlier one.
Which law applies?
These terms are governed by the law of the country where BrndTst is registered, and the courts of that country have jurisdiction over any dispute about them. If you use the website as a consumer and live in another country, you also keep any protection that the mandatory laws of your country give you.
